2004: Jalen Donates 100 New Coats for Raptors Coat Drive
June 24, 2008
Feb. 18, 2004 – Goodwill is pleased to announce a donation drive in
partnership with the Toronto Raptors basketball club and Air Canada
Centre. On February 20, donations of coats, jackets, sweaters, winter
shoes, boots and gloves will be collected prior to the Toronto Raptors
home game against the New Jersey Nets. Goodwill volunteers and the Lady
Raptors will accept donations at all Air Canada Centre entrances.
Toronto Raptors guard Jalen Rose will serve as the spokesperson for the
Goodwill winter clothing drive and has started the campaign by
personally donating 100 new winter coats.
"The Raptors are excited to partner with Goodwill and assist in the
winter clothing donation drive," said Rose. "The campaign is a great
way to give back to the Toronto community and raise awareness about the
need for winter clothing donations."
Donations are the lifeblood of Goodwill, particularly during the cold
winter months. All donations received through the winter clothing drive
will be sold through Goodwill?s retail stores. Revenues from the sales
will benefit people who face employment barriers through work
opportunities and skill development.
Goodwill is a non-profit organization that provides work opportunities
and skill development to people who face employment barriers. Goodwill
operates over 45 retail outlets and donation centres throughout Greater
